India - World Champions in Cricket

A dream come true for every Indian on Saturday night when Mahendra Singh Dhoni - Captain of Indian cricket team hitting a huge six to take India home to a famous victory and winning the World cup in style.This world cup is a gift to every Indian and especially Sachin Tendulkar for his service to the Nation.
Well the game started off with a little controversy over the toss which I believe India won it first time, and had to do it second time as match referee requested.India started well and had a strong hold over it till the end overs where Zaheer khan gave away plenty of runs to help Sri Lanka reach 275 which is a huge score to chase in the finals. But Indian team looked ready for the challenge with Sachin Tendulkar hitting some exquisite straight drives and cut shots to make every Indian believe that it is Master's day at his homeground but he followed a wide delivery from Malinga and was caught by Sangakkara, so India were 31-2 and target was looking pretty difficult at that point in time.Then the ship was anchored by Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, two Delhi lads and took India to a comfortable position. At the score of 110 India lost Virat courtesy a brilliant catch by Dilshan, at that point every body was in a dilemma that who would be the next batsmen walking in and it was Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni showcasing leadership and walking ahead of Yuvraj Singh, India was looking at a stiff traget at that time and whole nation was slowly lossing on hope but MSD played Sri Lankan bolwlers pretty well and milked the bowling along with Gambhir, both of them steadied the ship. Gambhir was reaching a century in the WC finals when he decided to play a loose shot and literally giving away his wicket. From there Yuvraj Singh and captain played sensibly and It seemed like India had a strategy of not giving away wickets to Muralidharan and play him cautiously which they succeeded implementing. Captain Dhoni hit a huge six to finish things off and it was a fitting end.
I always dreamt about seeing Indian team winning the world cup, they came close numerous times but always choked and it took 28 years to bring back the cup.

I believe it was party time through out the Nation, all roads were packed with People carrying Indian flags, people on their bikes, in their cars just going crazy :), even the movie stars, Politicians were not able to control their emotions and had great fun and shouting like anything, dancing in the joy, I saw some people crying in happiness as well.
